Flowered Red Heels
Smiling.
I love the fact that there are certain people in my daughter's life (who are not blood related) that no matter what can bring a smile to her face and a giggle from her belly. Tonight I was able to witness that situation once again.
She was able to get her "Joshu Fix" which she has been unable to do the past few weeks with my husband being in the hospital. We had gotten to the school about 15-20 minutes early before anyone else had shown up. It was nice because it gave us all an opportunity to catch up. She had shared with him that she is trying out for a lead role in a school play - which has two kissing scenes. He made sure he told her it was forbidden and razzed her about it the whole night.
One of my favorite parts of the evening - all though it also one of my saddest - is when it is time to leave. She wraps her arms around him and just holds onto him. He puts his arms around her - she buries her head into his chest - and they just stand there side by side with one another. Both of them holding on tightly to the other for a few minutes. I love that she has him in her life - he is a great influence on her.
Got to train myself tonight - which was also a great feeling. Worked with a woman who seemed to be the 'outcast' of the women there in the school. It made me sad and angry at the same time. This young woman was obviously dealing with a mental disability - but what was more important to me was that she is a lovely young lady - and so it kind of angered me with the behavior of others. So tonight was not about me training hard - all though I did throw all of my combinations with intent and purpose - but it was more about encouraging her and helping her make it through each round and feel good about herself while doing it.
A night of smiling. A night of smiling.
